Thiago Silva admits he has a‘dream’for Casemiro when he leaves Manchester United

Former Chelsea defender Thiago Silva is hoping to be reunited with Casemiro.

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is set to leave the club at the end of the season, once his current contract expires.

Casemiro’s impending departure leaves Manchester United with a big hole to fill in midfield for next season. And it also asks the question over what he might do next?

His fellow Brazilian, Thiago Silva, is hoping that he joins him in Portugal with FC Porto.

Thiago Silva on Casemiro

After a spell in Brazil with Fluminense, Thiago Silva signed with FC Porto in December. And he has expressed hope that Casemiro will join him.

Casemiro spent a year at Porto early in his career, sent on loan from Real Madrid for the 2014/15 season.

Quoted via Sapo.pt, Silva is quoted speaking to a Brazilian TV channel: “Casão [Casemiro] is a special person. A victorious career, and I believe his time here at FC Porto was very good, even though it wasn’t that long.

“Having ‘Casão’ on our side is much better than having him against us. It would certainly be a dream to play with Casemiro again in front of the defense, running, making those crazy tackles and protecting the defense, which is what he knows how to do.

“If it depends on Thiago Silva, that partnership is already signed.”

Silva’s contract with Porto expires at the end of the current season – but the 41-year-old is making clear that he would extend his deal if Casemiro could be persuaded to join up with him.

The two played for Brazil for years together, and 41-year-old Silva has not given up hope of a recall for the 2026 World Cup.

Casemiro’s options are growing

Casemiro has indicated that he does not wish to discuss his plans publicly until after the summer World Cup.

He can take his pick of potential destinations, as he is demonstrating that he still has the ability to play at the top level. United fans have even been expressing regret over his departure.

He has been linked with a move to join David Beckham’s Inter Miami, and this is just one of many options he will have to choose from.

The idea of returning to Porto might be a tempting one for him, especially with the chance to team up for Thiago Silva at club level.
