Ruben Amorim won’t have much of a positive legacy at Man Utd, but the latest claim emerging from Spurs shows he did an underrated job last season behind the scenes.
Ironically, Spurs are the stick that can be most easily used to beat Ruben Amorim with, since their journey since his sacking leaves his record against them looking even worse.
Amorim never managed to win against Spurs, and a sliding doors moment happened for his Man Utd reign when his side lost to them in a limp manner in the Europa League final.
However, the latest claims emerging in the Spurs camp prove that despite that failure, Amorim did an underrated job behind the scenes at Old Trafford last season.

That is the kind of chaos a club that unexpectedly gets dragged can get into, and United found themselves in the exact same situation last season.
Amorim himself said that being in a relegation battle is the shock this club needs, but despite those statements, he never lost grip of the dressing room.
A cultural reset was achieved in the middle of poor results, and any player who thought about playing for themselves instead of the team was frozen out.

It is debatable how much impact Amorim had on the transfer policy, but this current group of players is clearly more on the same page in a calm dressing room.

Diogo Dalot has even said that Amorim’s legacy at the club is seen in small things like everyday effort in training, staying on the course with determination, and things like that.
United are benefiting from that hard stance on non-negotiables, something that Spurs have lost completely since they fired Ange Postecoglou.
Granted, Amorim couldn’t get the best out of the squad on the pitch, but his efforts off it are undoubtedly helping his successors walk into a more stable dressing room.
