Manchester United consider new deal for Harry Maguire
Maguire has been a good servant to United over recent years. He has been on their books since they snapped him up back in 2019. The defender is due to become a free agent in June as things stand.
The 33-year-old has made 264 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions to date, 18 of which have come in this campaign, and he has chipped in with 17 goals from the back. He is a useful character to have in and around the dressing room. In addition, he is someone who the younger players can learn a lot from.
Maguire rose up through Sheffield United’s academy and broke into their first-team as a youngster. Hull City then came calling in 2014 and he spent three years with the Tigers, some of which he spent out on loan at Wigan Athletic. United then swooped in for him after he caught the eye at Leicester City.
After being snapped up by the Red Devils, he said at the time: “I am delighted to have signed for this great club. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Leicester and would like to thank everyone at the club, and the fans, for their fantastic support over the past two seasons. However, when Manchester United come knocking on your door, it is an incredible opportunity.
“From my conversations with the manager, I am excited about the vision and plans he has for the team. It’s clear to see that Ole is building a team to win trophies. I am now looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and getting the season started.”
