GdS: Milan hypothesis fades as Vlahovic wants Juventus renewal – the figures

AC Milan’s hopes of signing Dusan Vlahovic may soon be dealt a definitive blow, as he wants to renew his deal with Juventus.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport report, Vlahovic underwent surgery in London on December 4th, but his long absence from the field has brought the striker closer to the Bianconeri. He never felt abandoned by Juventus, and now he’s looking to the immediate future with a fresh perspective.

Vlahovic: Renewal closer

There are question marks about how Vlahovic will be when he returns to the field, but interested clubs have still been circling given his expiring contract. Milan have been extensively linked, Barcelona were the first to inquire, and Bayern Munich sniffed around but have now backtracked.

If Luciano Spalletti remains in charge for at least another season, Dusan knows the starting No.9 spot would be his. The former Italy coach had given the Serbian a starting role based on his merits and because he fits his style of football.

In terms of the renewal, Juve are willing to go as high as a €6m net per season salary (€7m with bonuses) to bring the 26-year-old up to the same level as Kenan Yildiz, or close to. His current deal, for reference, is €12m net per year including bonuses, so it is a big pay cut.

As for the possible duration of a new deal, options are open, including a short renewal (a year or two) or something greater. The changing climate is also demonstrated by the presence of father Milos alongside his son Dusan, who is increasingly participating in informal meetings about his son’s future.
