Michael Carrick raises doubts over whether Mason Mount will be fit enough for Man Utd match against Crystal Palace

Mount has suffered another injury-hit season at Old Trafford, despite impressing at times under Ruben Amorim before the ex-United manager was sacked in January.

Carrick has admitted that United will have to ‘wait and see’ if the 27-year-old former Chelsea star will be ready to feature against Villa after overcoming his latest injury.

“He is not 100 per cent in terms of back, because he’s only trained a very small amount of time, but he’s back and that’s good for us, so we’ll see whether he’s involved or not on Sunday, but it’s a big step for him, so we’re happy with that,” he said.

“Yeah, that’s it in terms of players coming back for now.”

United and Villa are level on points with only nine Premier League matches left in the 2025-26 campaign ahead of Sunday’s encounter at Old Trafford.

The Premier League kick-off for the meeting between Carrick’s men and Unai Emery’s side is scheduled for 2pm UK time.
