Mason Mount latest: A timeline
Since Mason Mount’s last appearance for Manchester United on January 17, Michael Carrick has provided regular updates on the midfielder’s fitness.
Carrick has consistently given the impression that Mount is not far away, but the midfielder is yet to make a matchday squad.
February 5: “Mason sooner. He’s not too far away. We’re hopeful it won’t be too long.”
February 9: “Mason will probably not [be available] for Tuesday, probably after, but definitely going into the Everton game, he’ll be back.”
February 20: “Mason is getting closer, we have to be patient with him, we don’t want to rush anything. He is getting closer.”
February 27: “Mason is getting closer, he’s on the grass, he’s looking to train and be around it. We’ve just had to be patient really.”
March 4: “We’ve got one or two we’re trying to work to get them back – Mason as well, he’s getting a bit closer. There’s always going to be people out, there’s always going to be people missing, but we’ll keep working as hard as we can to get them back.”
March 13: “He’s not 100 per cent because he’s only trained for a small amount of time but he’s back [in training] and that’s good for us. We’ll see whether he’s involved or not on Sunday, but it’s a big step for him, so we’re happy with that.”
