Manchester United are going to need to improve this weekend in order to beat Aston Villa, and starting Amad could be vital to claiming a big win in the Champions League football race.
Amad hasn’t started for Manchester United since the 1-0 win over Everton, dropped for Benjamin Sesko, and the result has seen struggles emerge on the flanks.
Amad is the only flank winger United have right now in the senior side, and therefore, his importance has become clear.
Last time Villa came to Old Trafford, Amad tore them apart, but this weekend, his start should come with Michael Carrick finding him a new role.

Michael Carrick should start Amad in new position against Villa
Recent weeks have seen United’s left flank become a problem, with Matheus Cunha not providing the width needed and instead dropping inside.
The result of this has seen United far too narrow, predictable, and unbalanced, with Luke Shaw also not offering width on the left.
So, therefore, Amad starting there could be a season-defining decision by Carrick.

In recent weeks, Carrick has praised Amad’s impact from the left, and this game could be the perfect chance to start him there and change the current trajectory of the season.
With Amad and his left foot on the left flank, it would open the pitch up for United, becoming a great deal more dangerous than with the narrow wingers of Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
United have no width without Amad. This could prove fatal to United’s hopes of playing in the Champions League next season, and so he must start, and on the left.

Who should Amad replace in Manchester United’s starting line-up
Playing Amad on the left will give United a threat that has been absent since Patrick Dorgu’s injury in January, benefiting Benjamin Sesko.
Amad’s left footed deliveries could allow for Sesko to get plenty of service in and around the box.
So Amad on the left and Sesko up front, then the right wing should still see Mbeumo starting, with the balance on the left allowing him to cut inside.
This could be the current best front three for United to choose in order to defeat Villa. With Cunha’s threat from the bench huge.
