Manchester United have been boosted by the news that summer managerial target Julian Nagelsmann is open to joining the Red Devils after the World Cup.
Nagelsmann will guide Germany at the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico this summer, and is actually under contract with the national team until after Euro 2028.
But he could make the move to the Premier League, after years of links, once the World Cup ends, according to reports.
United will make a permanent managerial appointment once the season ends, having handed Michael Carrick the reins on an interim basis after sacking Ruben Amorim in January.

Carrick himself is in contention for the job full-time, having started life as interim boss well, with six wins from eight games in charge, taking United up to third in the Premier League table.
When asked about Carrick's time at the club so far, majority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe said: “He’s doing an excellent job, absolutely.”
Nagelsmann sits at around third favourite in the betting to become the new Manchester United manager, with Carrick, Roberto De Zerbi and Oliver Glasner also high in the running for the job.
A report by Football Insider states that Nagelsmann is open to taking the United job in the summer, but the World Cup will naturally make a quick appointment difficult to get done.
Germany will be one of the favourite to go all the way and with the tournament, taking place across three different countries for the first time, meaning he may not be available until the middle of July - when the tournament ends - at the earliest.
That would only give him a month before the new 2026/27 Premier League begins.
Nagelsmann has been out of club football for the last three years, having left Bayern Munich to take up the role with the German national team in 2023.
Nagelsmann Has Impressed In Germany

He has been described by Sky Germany reporter Philipp Hinze as a "mastermind" for his two years with RB Leipzig, which helped him earn the top job at Bayern.
Hinze said: "The mixture of possession and high-intensity counter-press was the key. It was very difficult to play against.
"He's very passionate. He's still a young coach but he was a very young coach when he arrived at Leipzig and he developed at the club.
"He's clever, tactically so good and good on technical things.
"His speeches before and after the game in the locker room are very good. He was a mastermind. In Leipzig, they said to me he had an awesome, outstanding mentality."
