Unai Emery has named his starting XI as Aston Villa take on Manchester United this afternoon.

He has made three changes from the team that beat Lille 1-0 on Thursday night, as Tyrone Mings, Ross Barkley and John McGinn all come into the side.

Emi Martinez starts in goal, with a back four of Lamare Bogarde, Ezri Konsa, Mings and Digne.

Amadou Onana and Barkley operate in the double pivot, while McGinn, Morgan Rogers and Emi Buendia support striker Ollie Watkins.

Villa come into the game on the back of their win in France and will host Lille for the second leg of their Europa League round of 16 tie on Thursday next week.

United, meanwhile, have not played in 11 days after losing to 10-man Newcastle United at St James' Park last week.

United have lost just two of their last 37 home league games against Villa, going down 1–0 both times - in December 2009 and September 2021.

Villa, however, are looking to complete the league double over United for the first time since the 1954–55 season.

Emery’s side have won just three of their last 11 Premier League games. Since the first match in that run - a 4–1 defeat to Arsenal on December 30 - only four teams have picked up fewer points than Villa (12) in the competition.

Villa starting XI: Martinez; Bogarde, Konsa, Mings, Digne; Onana, Barkley; Buendia, McGinn, Rogers; Watkins.

Subs: Bizot, Lindelof, Maatsen, Garcia, Torres, Bailey, Elliott, Luiz, Abraham.

Man United starting XI: Lammens; Dalot, Yoro, Maguire, Shaw; Casemiro, Mainoo; Amad, Fernandes, Cunha; Mbeumo.

Subs: Bayindir, Heaven, Malacia, Mazraoui, Mount, T. Fletcher, Ugarte, Sesko, Zirkzee.
