Manchester United returned to winning ways at Old Trafford with a 3–1 victory over Aston Villa, as goals from Casemiro, Matheus Cunha and substitute Benjamin Šeško strengthened their grip on a place in next season’s Champions League.

The victory over Villa moved the Red Devils above the Villans and could prove crucial in the race to finish above the Birmingham side.

Bruno Fernandes was once again at the heart of everything for Manchester United, providing two assists. The Portuguese international now holds the record for the most assists by a United player in a single season, surpassing the 15 set by David Beckham in 1999/2000, and has also reached over 100 Premier League assists for the club.

Speaking after the game, Michael Carrick emphasised the importance of the result following the defeat to Newcastle United and the significance in the race for the top four.

“I was pretty satisfied with a lot of things,” said Michael Carrick

"They had a few chances, but overall, it was us who were the most dangerous. It was a crucial match after our defeat and the lads reacted very well."

He continued: " We can savour this victory. We stay cautious and keep our feet on the ground, but there is still a lot to play for."
