Goals from Casemiro, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko earned Manchester United an impressive 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils had recently moved ahead of the Villans on goal difference in the race to finish in the Premier League’s top four, and their victory against Unai Emery’s side at Old Trafford on Sunday opened up a three-point lead over Villa.
United have been in impressive form since Michael Carrick was named as caretaker head coach, and the Manchester outfit now look set to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
In the meantime, however, it appears that Manchester United have identified a Serie A star as a potential transfer target.
As per TuttoMercatoWeb, via TEAMtalk, Manchester United have identified Atalanta’s Ederson as a target as they search for a potential replacement for Casemiro.
Veteran midfielder Casemiro announced earlier this year that he is set to leave Man United when his contract expires this summer, and those in charge of the club’s recruitment are seemingly on the hunt for a potential successor.

It is claimed that Atalanta’s Ederson has emerged as a top target for United, with the Brazilian having impressed in Italy this season.
Ederson, 26, joined Atalanta from fellow Italian outfit Salernitana in 2022 and has made 170 appearances for his current side since moving to Bergamo.
The report suggests that Atalanta had been asking for a fee in the region of £50-60 million for the midfielder last summer, however the Serie A outfit will only be able to demand a fee of around £26 million for the player this year.
Ederson’s contract with Atalanta is set to run until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, but it appears that Man United could look to lure the player to England in the near future.
