Man Utd will hire a permanent successor to Ruben Amorim in the summer.
Manchester United are still on the search for a new permanent head coach to take charge at the end of the season.
Michael Carrick was appointed on an initial deal until the end of the season and has done his hopes of landing the job little harm during an excellent run of results. United sit third in the Premier League table after they defeated Aston Villa and are in a great position to secure Champions League qualification.
United sources insist they will not be swayed by emotion and do not want to get carried away after their recent rejuvenation under the former midfielder. No Premier League side has won as many points as United since Carrick was appointed (22), with seven wins from his first nine matches in charge. It only adds to their headache of appointing a suitable successor to Ruben Amorim this summer.

Keane disagrees with Rooney over Carrick
Manchester United won't want to repeat the mistakes of old if they give Michael Carrick the job permanently this summer. There is always a danger of regretting the decision if United do not play this well next season, though recent performances suggest their recent revival is down to a lot more than just luck.
Wayne Rooney played alongside Carrick at Old Trafford, and he believes his former teammate should be given the job permanently. "100% he should [get the job]," he told BBC Radio 5 Live. "I knew this was going to happen with Michael Carrick. I know him very well. I know his character and his personality.
"It needed a calm head, but someone who knows the place. The players needed some love, and he has given them that. We have seen the players play with more quality, more together as a team, and they look like a very strong team. Why would you change?"
Former United midfielder Roy Keane doesn't see it that way. Although he can't escape the fact Carrick has done well in the current role, he thinks there are better candidates for the long-term position.
"No, I think there are better options out there," Keane told Sky Sports. "I think the games that he has come in, he has won football matches and done a very good job. He has simplified things, but there has been no jeopardy in those games. They've had free weeks to prepare for those matches, it has been good timing for him, and he has done a very good job. I take my hat off to him.
"And if he does get the job in the summer, good luck to him. But I think there are far better options out there for the next manager of Man United. If Carrick had been mentioned three months ago as the next United manager you'd have been locked up. He wasn't even in the reckoning! But with time he has got the opportunity and he has done a very good job. I just think there are better options out there."
