Casemiro is set to leave Man United at the end of the season, as his contract is due to expire.
Manchester United now sit third in the Premier League table, and look on course to qualify for the Champions League under Michael Carrick. Man United will need to consider how to replace Casemiro in the summer, though, as the midfielder is set to leave.
The Brazilian’s contract is set to expire, and he announced in January that he would not be extending his deal. United are lining up a number of potential replacements for the 34-year-old ahead of the transfer window.
Ederson’s price slashed by over £30m
It was understood that Atalanta wanted around £60m for him last summer, so Man United opted against signing him; however, fresh reports suggest that he could be available on the cheap in the summer.
According to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Man United remain keen on the 26-year-old, and his price could be slashed by over £30m, as the Serie A side will only be able to demand around £26m for him in the upcoming summer window. It is because his contract expires at the end of next season, so they will be keen to sell him for a return, rather than letting him leave as a free agent in June 2027.
This season, Ederson has made 31 appearances for Atalanta, including eight games in the Champions League, experience which could prove vital for United, who expect to compete next season.
Elliot Anderson and Carlos Baleba remain on United’s radar
Ederson will become the cheap option in the summer based on this recent report, but that doesn’t mean that Man United aren’t still looking at the more expensive targets that they have within the Premier League.
Baleba from Brighton also remains a big name for the Red Devils, as United were close to signing him last summer. They opted against signing the 22-year-old based on the fact that Brighton wanted over £100m for him. However, they could reignite their interest in Baleba in the summer transfer window, as they look for a long-term replacement for Casemiro.
