Both Newcastle and Man United are reportedly keen to sign the same young attacker from Italy.

Man United have seen a somewhat transformation under Michael Carrick, as the United boss has been able to unlock some of the Red Devils’ best players. One name who has really come on in recent weeks is Benjamin Sesko.

According to fresh reports, Man United could make a move to sign a striker in the summer transfer window, especially considering that Joshua Zirkzee has all but disappeared since Carrick came into the building.

Man United and Newcastle ‘make contact’ for Esposito

Man United are reportedly looking at a move for Inter Milan striker Pio Esposito, who has impressed in Italy, but remains under the radar in the Premier League. The 20-year-old is a key youngster for Inter, and the Italian side will be very keen to keep hold of him, but if United come calling, it could tempt him to leave.

According to a report by Caught Offside, Man United have already made ‘initial contact’ to sign Esposito in the summer, with Newcastle also interested in the 20-year-old. However, the report says Inter will try as hard as they can to keep him.

It reads: “Inter are not even prepared to consider going to the negotiating table at this time. Esposito is seen as a key part of their future plans, and they’ll hold talks over tying him down to a new contract soon.”

This season, the Italy international has made 39 appearances for Inter, scoring eight goals, and providing six assists. Arsenal are also understood to be keen.

Man United also eyeing Liam Delap

United were in the race for Delap when he left Ipswich in the summer, but the English striker opted to join rivals Chelsea instead. However, it hasn’t worked out great for Delap, as he has scored just one goal in 21 matches in the Premier League.

It is understood that Man United are keen to make a move to sign Delap in the summer if Chelsea were prepared to sell him. If they do, he could become the backup option to Sesko for the long-term, much like what Esposito’s role would become if he moved to Old Trafford as well.
