Gary Neville believes Unai Emery made a mistake with Morgan Rogers against Manchester United.

Rogers was one of Aston Villa’s attacking quartet in their 3-1 Premier League defeat against United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Rogers, John McGinn and Emi Buendia all played just behind striker Ollie Watkins, with Rogers stationed on the right or centrally - and Neville thinks he was wasted on the right.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the final whistle, he said: “It’s just not right.

“He had the boy (Lamare) Bogarde behind him so there was no natural outlet going round him.

“I just thought you lost him for a large part of that match and I thought the minute that he switched and went into a central area, that little flick round the corner which released the counter-attack which led to the corner for the goal, that to me felt like it unlocked something for Villa and their confidence lifted for five, six, seven minutes.

“But that was the only glimpse of Aston Villa we saw today.”
