Former Man United striker Wayne Rooney has said whether he thinks Man United should make Michael Carrick the permanent manager.
The Red Devils are up to third in the Premier League table, as they beat Aston Villa 3-1 over the weekend thanks to goals from Casemiro, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko.
Carrick has now managed to get the Red Devils well into the Champions League places, and they are set to get back into Europe’s top competition, which is a major achievement, considering United’s season last year.

However, Carrick is still only the interim manager, and the Red Devils will need to decide whether to appoint him permanently in the summer or choose to appoint somebody else instead.
Rooney says Man United should 100% choose Carrick
Wayne Rooney played with Carrick at Man United, and so there are few pundits who know the interim boss better, and the former England captain believes that Carrick should be made permanent, a belief that he’s held ever since Carrick came in at Old Trafford.
Rooney said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “100% he should [get the job]. I knew this was going to happen with Michael Carrick. I know him very well. I know his character and his personality.
“It needed a calm head, but someone who knows the place. The players needed some love, and he has given them that.
“We have seen the players play with more quality, more together as a team, and they look like a very strong team. Why would you change?”
Carrick has been in charge since January 13, and since then, the Red Devils are top of the Premier League table in terms of points accumulated. They have managed 22 points from nine matches, beating current league leaders Arsenal who have 21 points in 10 games.
Based on how United have performed since Carrick was made manager, and the fact they are expected to invest in new players in the summer, the Red Devils could be legitimate title contenders if they appoint Carrick for next season.
