Man Utd signing Elliot Anderson just got more complicated because of a European giant

Manchester United are going to have to go head-to-head with European giants Bayern Munich to secure Elliot Anderson’s signature this summer.

Elliot Anderson has been made a transfer priority by Manchester United as Ineos look to find a suitable Casemiro replacement in the summer.

Nottingham Forest are expected to demand around £75m for Anderson’s signature, and that price tag has attracted plenty of big clubs around Europe.

Manchester City are favourites for Anderson, but United chiefs are refusing to rule themselves out of the race. A new competitor has now emerged in the shape of Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich step up interest in Elliot Anderson

According to the Daily Mail, Bayern Munich are stepping up their interest in Anderson, who is described as “one of the most in demand players this summer”.

Bayern are set to lose central midfielder Leon Goretzka this summer when his contract expires, leaving the German giants with a similar problem as United when it comes to Casemiro.

United have been linked to Goretzka, and he has been a long-term target for the Red Devils, but at 31 years old, he hardly fits into Ineos’ blueprint of signing young players.

Michael Carrick factor could help Man Utd convince Elliot Anderson

Carrick grew up on Tyneside as a Newcastle United fan but spent his career becoming a legendary midfielder in Manchester.

There are plenty of parallels between Carrick and Anderson, who also grew up supporting Newcastle but is now linked with a move to Old Trafford.

There is no one better to try and sell United to Anderson than Carrick, especially as their style of play as midfielders is very similar. Carrick’s trust in Kobbie Mainoo and his strengthening of United’s midfield should show Anderson he would be in safe hands.

Carrick hinted at staying at United after beating Aston Villa this weekend, and there is no manager on the market who is a better fit at Old Trafford. He is also the best chance the Red Devils have at convincing Anderson to make the move to Manchester.
