Man Utd's'plans'have not changed on future of in-form Red Devils fan favourite, despite impressing under Michael Carrick

Manchester United are expected to stick with their position on Casemiro’s future, despite the spine-tingling response from Red Devils supporters at Old Trafford.

Casemiro broke the deadlock for Manchester United against Aston Villa in the second half of Sunday afternoon’s 3-1 Premier League victory at Old Trafford.

The 34-year-old Brazilian midfielder turned his glancing header past Emiliano Martinez from a Bruno Fernandes cross before he wheeled away in celebration.

Casemiro was spotted showing his appreciation towards the Red Devils’ crest by pointing to it amid United fans singing a powerful chant from the Stretford End.

Man Utd will not walk back on their Casemiro decision ahead of the Brazil star’s Old Trafford exit

Red Devils supporters were heard chanting “one more year, Casemiro” after the Brazil international opened the scoring for Manchester United against Aston Villa.

Casemiro received the same treatment from Man Utd fans after the full-time whistle, as the song was sung when the players went down the Old Trafford tunnel as well.

United confirmed in January that Casemiro, who has been at the club since 2022, would be leaving the Premier League side at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Casemiro is out of contract with United in the summer and the veteran five-time Champions League winner has been heavily linked with clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Despite Casemiro’s Man Utd performance against Villa and the pleas of Red Devils supporters, BBC Sport reports that the club will stick with their initial decision.

The news outlet reported that United sources have claimed that the Premier League side ‘have no plans to reassess’ their call not to trigger Casemiro’s extension.

Michael Carrick broke his silence on Casemiro’s Man Utd future after the Aston Villa match at Old Trafford

Casemiro does have a 12-month extension in his current Man Utd contract, but the Red Devils opted against extending his stay at Old Trafford beyond this season.

Speaking after Man Utd’s latest win, Michael Carrick admitted that he does not think that former Real Madrid star Casemiro will walk back on his decision to leave either.

“I think, in some ways, it’s difficult to say, I think when something is decided, in some ways, the fact that it’s decided makes things a little bit easier and everyone understands the situation really,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“I think the impact he’s had has been terrific, certainly since I’ve been here and working with him, and his influence [on] the team and big moments in goals.

“And I think it was a nice moment at the end there with the supporters, and having that connection and the respect.

“That was a nice moment and I think he’ll enjoy that.”

Casemiro has impressed in the current season and the experienced Man Utd midfielder has netted seven times and picked up two assists in 29 matches so far.
