Liverpool and Real Madrid locking horns to sign "unbelievable" £138m Mo Salah successor

Liverpool are reportedly battling with Champions League rivals Real Madrid for the summer signing of Bayern Munich maestro Michael Olise.

The form of Mohamed Salah has been sad to see this season, with one of the Reds’ greatest players of all time a shadow of his former self.

Regardless of whether he leaves Liverpool this summer or not, an upgrade is required on the right wing, and Olise has stood out as a leading target for a while.

Now, a new report from Sport Bild claims that the Reds and Madrid are locking horns in the race to sign the hugely talented Frenchman.

The update says that Madrid president Florentino Perez is a “giant fan” of the former Crystal Palace man, and he is “planning a transfer attack” on him at the end of this season. He could even be willing to bid £138m for his services.

As for Liverpool, they are “also vying” to snap him up in the summer transfer window, and he “fits perfectly into the requirements profile” for FSG.

Michael Olise has to be a leading summer target for Liverpool

Olise is a magnificent footballer who has found extra gears at Bayern since leaving Palace, bagging an incredible 85 goal contributions in 93 appearances – 35 goals and 50 assists- and being hailed by Christoph Kramer:

“I know, we always talk about large sums. But still: price-performance, what this player gives a team – that is unbelievable.

“He does everything right. He knows when where the ball belongs. Even if he is pressed high, with his back to the goal, which wingers usually can never do that well, he dissolves everything.”

Olise could be the perfect successor to Salah, but the threat of Madrid is always great, especially given the money they are reportedly willing to pay for him.

But if Liverpool can sign the 24-year-old over the Spanish giants, it would be a major coup, allowing them to bring in one of Europe’s deadliest wide players.

Granted, it could mean the Reds have to break their transfer record again to get him, but if the funds are available, he has the ability to become a future legend at Anfield.
