Manchester United will face competition to land the Premier League ace this summer
Bayern Munich are set to ‘step up’ their interest in Manchester United target Elliot Anderson at Nottingham Forest, according to the Daily Mail. The Bundesliga giants are keen on luring the player over to Germany this summer. He is under contract at the City Ground until June 2029.
The Red Devils beat Aston Villa 3-1 at Old Trafford last time out. They remain in 3rd place in the Premier League table behind Arsenal and Manchester City. Michael Carrick’s side are back in action this Friday night away at AFC Bournemouth.
Manchester United face Bayern Munich competition in pursuit of Elliot Anderson
Nottingham Forest are likely to face a battle to keep hold of Anderson in the next transfer window. If they get relegated to the Championship, they will stand no chance of retaining his services. He has become one of their most prized assets over recent times.
Anderson, 23, rose up through the academy at Newcastle United and was a regular for them at various different youth levels as a youngster. The Toon Army loaned him out to Bristol Rovers in League Two to get some experience under his belt. Upon his return to the North East, he broke into the first-team and went on to play 55 games altogether.
The England international, who has six caps to his name, then left for Nottingham Forest in 2024. He hasn’t looked back since and he is a key player for his current club. The Whitley Bay-born man has made 80 outings for them to date, chipping in with four goals.
Speaking after United’s win over Aston Villa, Carrick said: "It feels good. It was a good performance in the main. We did a lot of things we were really happy with in the game and to finish it the way we did, we knew it was a big game coming into it and getting back to winning ways, the boys responded so well.
"I was quite happy with it at half-time, it was just a tight game. Sometimes you have to be a bit measured. The game opened up for us in the second half and we had the players to make the difference."
