England international Trent Alexander-Arnold could receive a welcome boost to his Real Madrid career in the summer transfer window, with reports claiming that the club are ready to sell one of his main rivals for the starting XI.
The former Liverpool man sealed a controversial switch from Anfield to Real Madrid last summer. With his Anfield contract expiring, the Reds were only able to pocket a budget fee of approximately £10 million, after allowing the full-back to transfer in time for the Club World Cup.
The 27-year-old's beginning at Real Madrid hasn't been as easy as he might have anticipated. Two separate injuries have impacted his game time, and he has drifted in and out of the starting eleven when available for selection.

He has also faced some criticism for his displays when starting matches for the club. His defensive duties have come into question by some areas of the Spanish media.
Nevertheless, he could receive a boost this summer, with BILD reporting that Real are set to do a major revamp of their squad during the summer transfer window. The alterations could see as many as six players departing the club.
One of those is reportedly legendary right-back Dani Carvajal. The 34-year-old is the primary competition to Alexander-Arnold for a starting position, with the Spaniard favoured for the last La Liga encounter against Elche last weekend.

Liverpool have reached the UEFA Champions League round of 16 where they face Galatasaray on March 18. Fans can watch the game on the TNT Sports Prime Video channel.
A potential exit of Carvajal could provide Alexander-Arnold with the opportunity to establish himself as first-choice at the Bernabeu. More regular game time and starts could potentially help him re-find the form that earned him a move to Real Madrid just under a year ago.
Other players reportedly on the sale list include defenders David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger, left-backs Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia, as well as midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
Real Madrid and Alexander-Arnold return to action on Tuesday evening as they take on Man City in the second leg of their Champions League round-of-16 encounter.

The Spanish titans carry a 3-0 lead from last week's first leg courtesy of Federico Valverde's first-half hat-trick, something that they will look to take advantage of at the Etihad Stadium.
Alexander-Arnold was in the starting line-up for the first leg before being substituted for Carvajal with six minutes of normal time remaining.
