It was their first clean sheet since the stalemate with Everton just after Christmas, while Sunderland and Leeds United also failed to register against Burnley earlier in the campaign.

Saturday’s result also means the Clarets are no longer out on their own at the bottom of the clean sheet table, equalling fellow strugglers West Ham and Wolves on four clean sheets each.

Surprisingly, Manchester United are next in the table with five, while Arsenal inevitably lead the way with 15.

Despite Burnley’s defensive woes, which has seen them concede 58 goals in 30 games, more than any other side, Parker was encouraged by what he saw against the Cherries at the weekend.

When it was put to Parker that Burnley have kept nowhere enough clean sheets this season, the Clarets boss replied: "No, [we haven’t].

"So it was a change today to a back four. I had a week working on it and I thought the boys carried that out very, very well.

“We keep going though, for sure. That's what we do, we keep going

"I think it's pretty remarkable, really, that considering the journey we've been on and what we've done this year and the circumstances that we've been through, sometimes probably a little bit unjust or sometimes a little bit unlucky or sometimes just the plain reality of the level that we've gone up against, sometimes we've just fallen a little bit short in terms of quality, but the spirit and the togetherness and the endeavour here is there constantly to see and for that we need to keep harvesting that really and that's going to be key.”
