Jack Colback wants Marinakis to appoint 'incredible' head coach at Nottingham Forest

Jack Colback has backed Steve Cooper for a sensational return to Nottingham Forest.

The promotion-winning head coach ended a 23-year exile from the top-flight when he took Forest to the Premier League via the play-offs during the 2021/22 campaign.

🔠The Ginger Pirlo has retired but just how good was Jack Colback for Nottingham Forest?

Let us know in the comments below!

Colback was a mainstay in that team during a very memorable season, and after a spell with QPR, he announced his retirement last week.

Colback has already lifted the lid on Marinakis, and now, he’s made a claim about Cooper that might give Forest fans some food for thought.

Jack Colback thinks Forest should appoint Steve Cooper

This would be remarkable considering Cooper is currently doing a job with Brondby in Denmark as he looks to rebuild his career.

Cooper was in charge of Leicester City for a short time last season, but he left after failing to really impress the fan base due to his Forest connections.

Colback was asked on TalkSPORT what he thought about the possibility of Cooper returning to the City Ground, and it seems he’d be a big fan of it.

He said: “I think that would be incredible if he did. My experience with Steve was so good.

“Obviously, we had the promotion coming from where we did, which was bottom of the league, then to do it at Wembley.

“It was so special, and I still get a lot of respect from the Forest fans.

“I think the number of managers changing now is a difficult one. The owner has his way of doing things, and he’s not happy, so he makes those decisions.

“I think he’s got to stand by them. He’s not always made the right ones.”

Cooper just got Forest

Every player you speak to from that promotion season raves about Cooper and what he was like as a man-manager.

Marinakis gave him 18 months to get things right, and in a tough 2022/23 campaign, staying up in the Premier League was arguably more impressive than promotion in the first place.

Jack Colback wants him back, but would you take Steve Cooper back at Nottingham Forest, and would he keep us up?

Cooper didn’t just buy into the football club, but he galvanised the whole city of Nottingham, and that is impressive in itself.

The Brondby boss will always have a home at Forest, and it would be fascinating to see if he returns to the club at any point in the future.

Colback certainly thinks he’d be capable of doing a good job, and the togetherness he’d be bringing back to the club would be a massive selling point of any re-appointment.
