There is already an “agreement” in place between Marcus Rashford and Barcelona to leave Man Utd on a permanent basis this summer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

However, Romano says the move will only happen if Barca trigger their €30m (£26m) purchase option:

“Agreement done between Rashford and Barcelona for a permanent transfer, but it now depends on Barca and Man United. Barcelona want to negotiate on the €30m buy option clause.”

“Man United are very clear: €30m or nothing, so they are hopeful to receive €30m from Rashford. So, €80m from Hojlund and Rashford is expected by Manchester United in their financial calculations.”

Barcelona are trying to get Rashford on the cheap

It is clear that by agreeing personal terms with the England international, the La Liga champions are trying to present United with a fait accompli.

With Rashford dead set on a transfer to the Camp Nou, Barca believe they can secure his signature for a figure below their agreed purchase price.

As things stand, the Red Devils are not even considering lowering their demands for the winger, which is understandable considering his performances this campaign. Buy a Man Utd shirt from Classic Football Shirts here.

The Man Utd loanee has been in great form

Rashford has scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists in 38 appearances since his move to Spain last summer, and United should be pointing out to Barcelona that they could easily raise more than €30m (£26m) if they opened up the bidding to other teams at the end of the season.

Of course, the player’s stance does make things more complicated. If Rashford won’t consider moves elsewhere, Barca may feel they have the edge in negotiations. This could come down to who blinks first.
