Andrés Gómez
Bournemouth could return to Vasco da Gama for another signing, following their fresh – and smart – move for Rayan.
With the Brazilian forward no longer leading the line, it has been Colombian attacker Andrés Gómez who has stepped into a central role in Vasco’s attack.
The 21-year-old has grown into one of the team’s main references in the final third, building on a strong end to last season.
Rayan’s partner for a while
During the last semester of 2025, Vasco da Gama had Rayan on the right flank and Andrés Gómez on the left. It was a real nightmare for defenders, who couldn’t stop them reaching the latter stages of the Brazilian Cup.
Since then, the left winger has carried that momentum into 2026 and established himself as a consistent attacking outlet.
His performances are backed up by numbers. According to FootyStats, Gómez is one of the Brasileirão’s most active forwards. He ranks second in successful dribbles, with 21, highlighting his ability to beat defenders in direct situations. In addition, he leads the league in total shots, with 24 attempts, showing both volume and attacking intent.
Those metrics help explain his growing importance. After needing time to adapt following his arrival in mid-2025, Gómez now looks fully settled. He plays with confidence, takes responsibility, and is heavily involved in Vasco’s attacking phases.
So far this season, he has contributed three goals directly, with one goal and two assists. Still, his influence goes beyond those numbers. He progresses the ball well, attacks space, and constantly looks to destabilise defensive structures.
That form has also been recognised internationally. Gómez was included in Colombia’s latest squad under Néstor Lorenzo, and he is now pushing for a place in the World Cup later this year.

Bournemouth interest emerges
As reported by a club insider outlet in Brazil, Bournemouth are one of the clubs tracking Andrés Gómez’s development. The Premier League side are already familiar with Vasco’s market, having signed Rayan, and could now explore another deal.
From a recruitment perspective, Gómez fits Bournemouth’s recent profile. He is young, direct, and already producing in a competitive league. His dribbling numbers and attacking involvement suggest a player suited to a fast, transition-based system.
However, Vasco are in no hurry to sell. The Brazilian club believe Gómez’s value could rise significantly after the World Cup. That expectation shapes their current stance in negotiations.
Our take: Timing is key for the Cherries
For Bournemouth, the timing of any move could be decisive. Acting early may reduce competition and keep the price lower. Waiting, on the other hand, could offer more certainty about Gómez’s level on the international stage.
For now, interest is at the monitoring stage. Meanwhile, Andrés Gómez continues to grow into his role at Vasco, strengthening both his reputation in Brazil and his appeal in Europe.
