West Brom star with a "very high ceiling" could turn into Morrison's very own Harvey Barnes -…

Under Eric Ramsay, West Bromwich Albion looked resigned to the drop in the Championship.

Indeed, the former Minnesota head coach was a full-blown disaster in the Hawthorns dug-out, with the 34-year-old looking completely out of his depth, having overseen no victories from his dire nine games in charge.

Eric Ramsay record at West Brom (timeless)

Thankfully, West Brom's season has had fresh life injected into it since Ramsay was sacked, courtesy of Baggies legend James Morrison stepping into the dug-out, with a 3-0 win collected over Hull City last time out.

Against the Tigers, several loanees stood out, with Danny Imray - who is situated at West Brom for the second half of the campaign on loan from Crystal Palace - picking up an assist for the game-clinching third strike of the afternoon.

Alongside Imray, Aston Villa youngster Jamaldeen Jimoh also got in on the act, as he assisted Aune Heggebo's simple tap-in.

The Baggies have a rich history when it comes to loanees joining, with Harvey Barnes sticking out as a gleaming example.

Remembering Harvey Barnes' loan spell at Albion

Barnes is arguably forgotten about now for having West Brom on his early list of loan clubs, considering the 28-year-old is currently strutting his stuff in the Champions League with Newcastle United.

Cast your minds back to 2018, though, and Barnes was about to enjoy a formative loan stint with the Baggies, with the Burnley-born attacker going on to become a regular with Leicester City, after a stunning spell in the West Midlands.

Across a very memorable 28 games, Barnes would regularly twist and turn Championship defences for fun down the left channel, and as a number ten option, with a bumper nine goals and eight assists coming his way.

Now a 54-time goalscorer in the Premier League, the FA Cup-winning forward must look back on this loan move on occasion and realise how transformative it was for his development.

Morrison could well have his very own Barnes in the making right now, and - amazingly - he's a permanent member of his camp.

Barnes would eventually go on to become a £38m purchase for the Magpies from Leicester, with his adventures in the EFL used as a very useful stepping stone.

Isaac Price will hope that he can go on to become a Premier League star of the same ilk in time, with the Baggies or without the Baggies, as he continues to impress towards the foot of the very competitive division.

Already, the former Everton prodigy has been praised as having a "very high ceiling" by ex-West Brom boss Ryan Mason, with Barnes also lauded in a similarly complimentary manner at the Hawthorns, as his own former manager in the West Midlands, Darren Moore, labelled him a "devastating" talent for the level.

On his day this season, Price has shown himself to be a tricky Barnes-like talent on the flanks and through the centre of the park, with an impressive seven goals and two assists in his back pocket from 38 Championship encounters.

In particular, he seems to have come into his own under the early days of Morrison, when he was previously looking frustrated under Ramsay, with his standout performance against Hull seeing him collect West Brom's final goal of the game, while also chipping in with four key passes.

Noted as having an £8.6m valuation according to Transfermarkt, Price could go on to be a notable sale down the line, with interested parties from the Premier League once reportedly sniffing about.

West Brom would love to hold onto Price for longer, as he has only been at the club for 56 games, but this could end up being another Barnes-style tale, as the 22-year-old goes on to be a top-flight recognised talent, away from the Hawthorns.

There's still a chunk of the season to go before transfer speculation will heat up, and with West Brom only one point above the drop zone, Morrison will need more inspired displays from the much-talked-about Price to ensure survival is reached.
