Manchester United have the chance to bring in some new faces this summer
Manchester United have made ‘contact’ with Ajax over the possibility of a move for attacker Mika Godts, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri on X. They are keen on a potential swoop for the winger this summer. He is under contract in Holland until June 2029 but his long-term situation is up in the air.
The Red Devils remain 3rd in the Premier League table. They find themselves behind Arsenal and Manchester City in the division. Michael Carrick’s side beat Aston Villa 3-1 at Old Trafford last time out.
Manchester United interested in move for Ajax winger Mike Godts
Ajax could face a battle to keep hold of Godts amid attention from elsewhere. At the age of 20, he has bags of potential and is being tipped for a bright future in the game. The Belgium youth international joined the Amsterdam outfit back in 2023.
Godts, who is from Leuven, started his career with spells in his native country at Anderlecht and Genk. He then made the switch to the Eredivisie and hasn’t looked back since. The forward has made 102 appearances since his transfer to the Amsterdam Arena and he has scored 22 goals, 14 of which have come this season.
United could see him as someone to boost their attacking department. If he joined, he would give them more competition and depth at the top end of the pitch. In addition, he could offer them something different to what they already have at their disposal in his position.
After penning a new deal at Ajax in 2024, Godts said: "I've only been happy since I arrived here. It happened fairly quickly. But I think it can always go faster. It's great that they all have confidence in me. I knew right away that I wanted to extend my stay, so it was an easy decision for me."
He added: "Goals and assists are always great. It's happening now, and I'm pleased with that. It might keep people quieter when I have a less impressive game. It's just important, and everyone notices, so I'm glad I've added that to my game."
