Lisandro Martinez ruled out for Bournemouth vs Man Utd clash

Michael Carrick has ruled Lisandro Martinez out of Manchester United’s upcoming trip to Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Manchester United haven’t enjoyed an improved run of form without injuries. The biggest blows involve Patrick Dorgu and Lisandro Martinez, with the latter missing for over five weeks with a calf injury initially thought to be minor.

Although Martinez’s absence has been a huge talking point among United fans, Leny Yoro has fulfilled the role and is growing in confidence with each game he plays.

United have one more game before another international break, with fans eager to hear if Michael Carrick has any positive team news with several stars recovering in the treatment room.

Are Roy Keane’s concerns valid? Or is he just adding needless negativity to the Michael Carrick debate?

Michael Carrick confirms Lisandro Martinez will miss Bournemouth trip

Carrick took some time out on Wednesday to address the media, when he gave an update on the United team.

The United squad had multiple injuries, including Matthijs de Ligt, who has been nursing a back injury for a long time.

De Ligt played an important role in the team at the beginning of the season, but he has yet to feature under Carrick due to injury.

“Frustrating for Mata [De Ligt], he’s been trying to work towards getting back,” Carrick told reporters.

“It’s a back issue that’s proving difficult. We’ll keep working as hard as we can.”

When asked about Martinez, Carrick said the Argentine is closer to a return but he will miss the Bournemouth game.

“He’s a lot closer,” Carrick added. “He’s getting there. After this one, I think he’ll be alright.”

This means Carrick is set to continue playing Yoro alongside Harry Maguire against Bournemouth on Friday night.

Martinez is a crucial player to the United team when fit, so the quicker he returns, the better. It’s already felt like a long time without the World Cup winner.

Michael Carrick provides Patrick Dorgu update

Dorgu has been injured since January.

The Denmark international was beginning to show his best form in a United shirt before picking up a hamstring injury.

Dorgu fell awkwardly while chasing a loose ball shortly after scoring in United’s win over Arsenal.

Denmark manager Brian Reimer suggested last month that Dorgu could be fit for the March internationals.

When asked about Dorgu, Carrick said: “Patrick further down the line.”
