CaughtOffside: Milan informed as €35m Man Utd forward wants Serie A return – the details

Joshua Zirkzee is considering leaving Manchester United and a return to Serie A is something he is not closing the door to.

According to CaughtOffside, Zirkzee is no longer certain of staying at United beyond this season. The Red Devils too ‘are also prepared to sell’ the centre-forward after a difficult time at Old Trafford, with the opportunity of a return to Italy something to keep an eye on.

The report adds: “As per my sources in the industry, Premier League clubs have now cooled their interest in Zirkzee as he’s not keen to stay in England, with Juventus, AC Milan and Napoli on alert over potentially bringing him back to Italy.”

At the moment United are looking for €35m to sell and they want a permanent deal, whereas the three Serie A clubs mentioned are only thinking about a loan deal initially.

A source added: “Zirkzee’s return to Serie A is gathering strength. Premier League clubs have been made aware of his stance, so they’ve dropped their interest. Juventus, Milan and Napoli are keeping an eye on his situation and could move.”

It is also worth recalling that Milan competed with United to land Zirkzee in the 2024 summer window before ending up with Alvaro Morata, and they were linked with an attempt to sign him during the most recent winter mercato too.

Now, we must see if United open up to the idea of accepting a loan with an obligation or option to buy formula for the 24-year-old, but the thing that’s clear is that Zirkzee will surely be leaving this summer.

Since joining from Bologna, Zirkzee has scored nine goals for the Red Devils in 69 appearances across all competitions since the start of the 2024-25 season. He may not look like the prolific scorer the Rossoneri needed, but Rasmus Hojlund and Scott McTominay are examples of what a switch can do.
