Brighton and Hove Albion vs Liverpool in the Premier League from the Amex Stadium - Saturday, 12.30pm
Brighton could once again be without their star winger Kaoru Mitoma as Liverpool visit the Amex Stadium this Saturday.
Mitoma, 28, sustained an ankle injury during the first half of Albion's 1-0 home loss to Arsenal on March 4.
The Japan international did not appear for the second half against the Gunners and was not fit enough for the matchday squad for the 1-0 away win at Sunderland last Saturday.
After the Arsenal match he was spotted bySussex World hobbling badly as he left the Amex Stadium on crutches and wearing a protective boot. Thankfully the scans revealed no major damage and head coach Fanian Hurzeler admitted it was just a question on "handling the pain."
It was clearly too sore to be involved at the Stadium of Light and Mitoma will now hope to manage the issue and prove his fitness ahead of Saturday, as Premier League champions Liverpool arrive for the 12.30pm kick-off.
It’s an untimely blow for Mitoma as he was just rediscovering his form after a sperate ankle issue saw him miss nine top flight matches.
Minteh is a strong option for Hurzeler
Should the Liverpool match arrive too soon for Mitoma, Hurzeler does have a few options for the left flank role. The most likely being Yankuba Minteh, who impressed and scored in the 1-0 win at Sunderland.
Diego Gomez has also proved his worth on the left this season, while Belgian international left back Maxim De Cuyper has also featured higher up on the left in an attacking role. Fit-again Solly March and Matt O'Riley are also options to face Liverpool.
It's a key area as Arne Slot’s Reds have looked far from assured in that area of the pitch.
Often midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai fills in on the right of their defence, while Jeremie Frimpong has struggled to establish himself in that position following his £30m summer arrival from Bayer Leverkusen.
