The West Ham United Fan Advisory Board thanked Boreham Wood FC for providing free entry to last night's National League Cup Final at the Mangata Developments Stadium.
Season ticket holders from both clubs were granted free entry to last night's humdinger of a final, which saw the hosts run out winner on penalties (7-6) after the match had ended 2-2 in regulation time thanks to an added-on time leveller for the hosts.
And the FAB's Mike Field took the time to offer his thanks on behalf of the 1,250 travelling supporters, many of whom were able to take advantage of Boreham Wood's generous offer.
"In total contrast to the greed we see at Premier League level, the Boreham Wood Chairman has offered free tickets to season ticket holders of both clubs," he wrote. "As a result, his club will actually make a loss for hosting a Cup Final. An extraordinary gesture so rare in today’s football and one he should be applauded for.
"They were still selling souvenir programmes and there was a bar and food available in our section, so we spent a few bob in the ground to help a club not looking to exploit fans at every opportunity. I still wanted us to win of course, but Boreham Wood deserved a great night.
"Please pass on our respect and thanks to your Chairman for a wonderful gesture. Thanks to all for a great night at Boreham Wood."
The match saw West Ham leap into an early two-goal lead before being pegged back in the second half, only for the tie to be lost on penalties - the 14 spot kick, after all 13 b3fore had been converted.
