Jadon Sancho has Marcus Rashford path to follow to secure dream Man United transfer route

Jadon Sancho's salary is expected to be an issue for another potential suitor this summer after agreeing a £300,000 a week package with Manchester United in 2021

Jadon Sancho will need to take a significant pay cut if he's to make another return to Borussia Dortmund when his contract at Manchester United expires, according to reports. His compatriot Marcus Rashford has already shown him how he can restart his career away from Old Trafford.

Sancho has failed to live up to the hype surrounding him since he joined from Dortmund in 2021. After returning to the Bundesliga outfit on loan, Sancho has played the last couple of seasons on loan at Chelsea and Aston Villa.

His move to Stamford Bridge saw him play 41 times across all competitions, but the Blues opted against signing him permanently, paying a £5m fine to avoid paying the £25m obligation.

At Villa, Sancho has played plenty of football under Unai Emery, though the Midlands outfit have no buy option or obligation in the deal. However, they will be able to snap up as a free agent come the end of the season.

United currently have the option to extend his deal by a further year. It's been reported that the club are reserving their position on a possible extension, but according to The Telegraph, Dortmund are 'optimistic' that they can persuade the 25-year-old to return to the club on a permanent basis.

The report states that the winger will need to accept a pay cut if he is to get another stint in Germany. Sancho's contract at Old Trafford is said to be about £300,000 a week.

Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac has reportedly decided to move away from the 3-4-2-1 formation he's deployed this season. The report states that he has now given his approval for the club to bring Sancho back.

It comes after reports in Spain suggested that Marcus Rashford would have to follow suit and take a pay cut to secure a permanent move away from United to Barcelona. The Spanish giants have the option to make the forward's move a permanent one for £26m at the end of the season.

Mundo Deportivo have reported that the club plan to pay the fee across three instalments, with a three-year contract already being agreed with the England international. SPORT claimed that the La Liga side managed to successfully negotiate a significant wage reduction with Rashford to facilitate the move alongside the league's salary limit.

Barcelona are not thought to be in a rush to finalise the deal for Rashford, with them keen to assess how the 28-year-old performs between now and the end of the season. The forward has scored 10 goals and assisted 13 across 38 games.
