Everton must be ruing failed Arda Guler transfer
During the summer of 2021, former Everton centre-forward Cenk Tosun actually recommended the club to sign Arda Guler, when he was a relatively unknown Turkish youngster at that time.
“Everton asked me,” Tosun explained to Ajansspor. “I mentioned Arda from Fenerbahce. They looked but did not make a move because he was under 18.”
Since then, Guler has established himself as one of the best young players on the planet and is now a key fixture of Real Madrid’s team.

The 21-year-old has registered 17 goal involvements for Real this term, and is the second top assister in La Liga, only behind Lamine Yamal.
Guler could win the FIFA Puskas Award later this year after his stunning goal against Elche earlier this month.
Indeed, had Everton signed Guler, they would’ve probably sold him for over £100m by now, and that would’ve been crucial funds during their PSR struggles.
Ultimately, they suffered an eight-point deduction during the 2023/24 season for breaching PSR regulations.
That said, Toffees chiefs must be watching Guler’s greatness with gritted teeth, knowing what could’ve been.
