Sandro Tonali's stance on joining Man Utd explained as £100m transfer links heat up

Manchester United continue to be linked with Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali ahead of the summer transfer window.

Fans can expect Manchester United to sign one or two top-class midfielders in the summer, and it seems Sandro Tonali is towards the top of Ineos’ shopping list.

United need a long-term replacement for Casemiro, and while he recommended signing Bruno Guimaraes as his successor, it is Tonali who is dominating headlines.

Tonali’s agent has spoken about a summer move, and it seems Old Trafford could be among his favoured destinations.

Sandro Tonali is open to joining Man Utd this summer

According to German journalist Christopher Michel, United are “seriously” working on a move for Tonali in the summer.

Interestingly, he adds that Tonali is open to making the move to Old Trafford, which opens up the door for a summer deal.

Ineos have made sure that new signings made in the last two years have been desperate to join United for the right reasons. Last summer, Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo all turned down clubs in the Champions League to join the Red Devils.

Sandro Tonali is perfect back-up if Elliot Anderson move collapses

Even amid all the noise around Tonali, it has been made clear that United’s priority target is Elliot Anderson this summer.

However, Manchester City are favourites for Anderson and recent reports even claim Bayern Munich are showing interest in Anderson.

If the Nottingham Forest midfielder snubs a move to Old Trafford, Ineos must be prepared, and that’s exactly what this Tonali interest seems to be.

Like Anderson, Tonali is an all-action midfielder who prefers to play deep and dictate tempo, but is also an elite duel-winner who can cover ground.

Tonali is expected to cost around £100m, so he is not exactly a cheaper alternative, but the Italian is the same calibre of player and he has proved that at Newcastle.
