Four Man United players are set to be sold in the summer to help steer clear of PSR concerns.

Manchester United’s recent transfer strategy has been pretty impressive lately, as they made some excellent signings in the summer transfer window. They added the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko, all of whom have performed well.

They also signed goalkeeper Senne Lammens for just £18m, and he has become Man United’s first-choice goalkeeper. Not only is he the first choice, but he has also been statistically one of the best stoppers in the Premier League this season.

It comes after a season in which United had Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir in goal, both of whom struggled to perform consistently, and have both been cast aside.

Man United plot to sell 4 goalkeepers in the summer

As a part of their transfer strategy for the upcoming summer window, Man United are planning to sell four goalkeepers to generate transfer funds, and also free up some more wage budget as they look to improve Michael Carrick’s squad.

According to the Sun, Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton and reserve keeper Dermot Mee are all set to be sold in the summer. The report claims that United plan to elevate academy keeper Radek Vitek to become one of the club’s backups for next season.

Onana is perhaps the most intriguing case, as he is currently away on loan at Turkish side Trabzonspor, and will return to Old Trafford in the summer. The report makes it clear that United plans to sell Onana, but whether they can get much is another question. It claims that they want at least £18m for Onana, which could be difficult, even though they paid £47m for him in 2023.

Bayindir could generate some funds too, as there is reported interest in him from Fenerbahce, and considering that he’s had experience playing at the Premier League level, he does hold some transfer value.

Onana expects to fight for a place at United

Onana has performed fairly well since joining Trabzonspor in the summer. He’s made 23 appearances for the Turkish side, conceding 34 goals, and keeping five clean sheets; He has been their first-choice keeper for the majority of the season.

His contract is due to expire in 2028, so United won’t be able to release him, leaving them with two options. They either re-integrate Onana into the squad or look to sell him on the cheap in the summer. It looks as though he will be sold in the summer, so long as United can find a team that match their £18m asking price for the 29-year-old.
