West Ham ‘set for talks’ with Premier League over signing 28-year-old “monster” this summer

West Ham United are bracing for a huge summer that could shape the club’s immediate future.

Survival in the Premier League would allow them to retain key players and strengthen from a position of stability, while relegation would likely trigger a very different approach focused on sales and rebuilding.

All signs, however, suggest the Hammers are planning for life in the top flight — and have already begun laying the groundwork for a deal that would only be realistic if they avoid the drop.

West Ham are preparing to open discussions with Chelsea over a permanent move for Axel Disasi following his impressive loan spell in east London, according to Football Insider.

The club have quickly decided they want to keep the French centre-back beyond this season after his commanding performances at the heart of the defence. However, finances remain a major obstacle.

Chelsea paid around £38 million to sign Disasi in 2023, and West Ham are not in a position to match that fee outright. Instead, they are hoping to negotiate a more manageable deal — potentially through structured payments or a reduced price.

Any agreement, though, hinges on one key factor: Premier League survival. Sources indicate that if West Ham fail to stay up, a permanent deal would almost certainly collapse.

Disasi — described as a “monster” by journalist Rahman Osman — has made such an immediate impact that he is already viewed as central to the club’s plans moving forward.

Chelsea Open to Disasi Exit

There is optimism on West Ham’s side that a deal could be struck, largely because Chelsea are open to selling the defender this summer.

Reports earlier in the year suggested there is no clear route back into the first team for Disasi at Stamford Bridge. He has not featured competitively for the club since the early stages of last season and also spent time out on loan at Aston Villa during the 2024/25 campaign.

Having fallen down the pecking order and been part of the so-called ‘bomb squad’ under Enzo Maresca, his situation has done little to improve even with changes in management.

As a result, Chelsea are expected to listen to offers — which could play into West Ham’s hands if they can strike the right financial agreement.

Axel Disasi has quickly become one of West Ham’s most important players, and it is no surprise the club are already working behind the scenes to secure his future.

However, everything comes down to survival. Staying in the Premier League would give the Hammers both the financial power and the pulling power needed to complete the deal. If they fall short, keeping hold of the “monster” at the back could prove impossible — making the final weeks of the season even more crucial.
