Sam Allardyce claims there are two teams Bruno Fernandes could be playing for next season

Sam Allardyce shares his verdict on Bruno Fernandes’ future by naming two clubs he can see the midfielder signing for if he leaves Manchester United.

Bruno Fernandes will be in contention to win Manchester United Player of the Year for a record fifth time at the end of the season, with many suggestions emerging that he should be recognised with the Premier League award too.

The 31-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down with 16 assists to his name in the Premier League this season. Fernandes assisted two goals in United’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, meaning he is now four assists short of the league record held by Thierry Henry and Kevin de Bruyne.

It remains to be seen if Fernandes will leave Old Trafford in the summer due to a release clause worth £57 million that could tempt one of the European elite clubs.

Sam Allardyce tips Bruno Fernandes to sign for Real Madrid or Barcelona

Fernandes wouldn’t look out of place in any of the best teams in the world.

The Portugal international is among the best playmakers in European football, even if United are not competing for the biggest honours in football.

That could change next season if United qualify for the Champions League, but the club would also need Fernandes to remain loyal if any offers come in the summer.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Podcast, former England manager Allardyce stressed that he thinks Fernandes could end up at Real Madrid or Barcelona at the end of the season.

“I want him at Man United,” Allardyce said.

“But I think he’ll end up going to, well, he might very well go to Real Madrid or Barcelona.”

It would be a major loss for United if Fernandes was to sign for Real Madrid, Barcelona or even Bayern Munich in the summer.

Carrick, or whoever comes in, will be doing their utmost to keep United’s best player.

Jose Fonte advises Bruno Fernandes to stay at Man Utd

Former Portugal international and Premier League defender Jose Fonte believes Fernandes should stay at United, despite rumours linking him with an exit.

Fernandes is under contract at United until the summer of 2027, with the option to extend it by a further year.

Fonte has urged Fernandes to remain at United.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Fonte said: “It’s very complicated to speak for somebody else. Me? I would stay 100%.

“I think the club looks like it’s on a good trajectory now under Michael Carrick.

“And, the club, as we all know, is a massive club. Bruno is becoming, if not already is, a legend at Man Utd.

“I think he loves the city, he loves the club. He is thriving again, so why not stay until the rest of your career because one of the best clubs in the world?”
