"The goals will come" for Cherries says Scott ahead of "massive" United clash

While the reverse fixture at Old Trafford produced eight goals in a thrilling draw, recent Bournemouth games have not suggested that Friday night’s match will match that.

Only two goals have scored in their past four games, with all of them being draws.

Those games extended the side’s unbeaten run to ten games, the longest in the Premier League, after United’s 11-game run came to an end earlier this month.

Scott told the Daily Echo that a win on Friday will allow the team to kick on and look up the table once they return from the international break, and he said they cannot be too frustrated at recent results.

“I think we can't complain too much,” he said.

“I think this season we've had so far, a lot of draws, but some of them could have gone our way and won, some we could have lost. So it's one of them.

“We need to start converting more chances, we know that, but I think that happens in football. Every team goes through spells like that where the goals just aren't going in.

“Luckily for us, they're not going in our goal either, so I know you can't be too frustrated at that.

“Obviously, we're working as hard as we can to put the ball in the net, and we've shown we can do it multiple times, especially at the start of the season.

“We were scoring goals for fun, so it's going to come, and we've got top strikers here, top wingers that can definitely finish.

“We know the goals will come. I think for me, from midfield, I could probably chip in with a few more. But yeah, it's important.

“Obviously the game Friday is massive as well. Man United have been flying since obviously Carrick went in.

“A very strong team with top players and it's Man United. But we'll be confident that we can, at our home, get a result over them.

“I think if we get three points there, then we should definitely kick on and look up the table. And fingers crossed we finish as high as possible.”
