Manchester United could play Manchester City in the FA Youth Cup final. The Under-18s won 3-2 against Sunderland in the quarter-finals on Wednesday night to progress to the semi-finals.

Noah Ajayi, Chido Obi and Nathaniel-Junior Brown got on the scoresheet at Old Trafford. After conceding first, Sunderland fought back to lead 2-1 in the second half, but Darren Fletcher's side responded.

The win means the Under-18s will now play Crystal Palace in the semi-finals of the competition. If they win, they will play either rivals City or Blackburn Rovers in the final of the Youth Cup.

The Under-18s have beaten Peterborough, Derby County, Oxford United and Sunderland to get to the semi-final of the prestigious competition and will now take on Palace at Old Trafford.

Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho were part of a talented side that won the Youth Cup in 2021/ 2022, and the U18s are looking to extend United's rich history in the competition.

United set a Youth Cup attendance record in the final at Old Trafford four years ago. It remains to be seen whether Etihad would host the final if City progress in this season's competition.

City's U18s are currently top of the Premier League North, with United in second place.
