Opinion: Everton should replace Thierno Barry with striker who's outscoring Lamine Yamal in…

Some of David Moyes’ best signings over the years have been low-risk recruits from the continent.

The likes of Steven Pienaar, Kevin Mirallas and Mikel Arteta have all been bought at a low cost from overseas.

Which of these players do you want to see Everton SIGN in 2026?

David Moyes and his Everton scouts had a good eye for a bargain, and they should go back to that approach with a few of their summer additions.

Clearly, spending £30m on Thierno Barry hasn’t worked, so they should look to replace him with RCD Mallorca striker Vedat Muriqi.

Everton should try to sign Vedat Muriqi from Mallorca

Instead of forking out a substantial sum of money on a young and relatively unproven striker this summer, Everton should go for a ready-made number nine with more experience.

Vedat Muriqi would be a suitable candidate after his sensational season in La Liga, netting an impressive 18 goals.

Only Kylian Mbappe has scored more league goals in Spain than Muriqi, who is the second top scorer, ahead of Lamine Yamal.

The 31-year-old, who has netted 32 goals in 66 games for Kosovo, has a cultured left foot, as evinced by his finish below.

Muriqi would be perfect for Moyes’ system, as the 6ft 4in centre-forward is excellent in the air.

He’s actually scored six goals with his head this season, which is a pretty remarkable tally.

Given his age, Everton could probably land his signature for around the £15m mark, so it’d be a low-risk transfer.

It’d also allow Moyes and his chiefs to allocate funds towards another striker, perhaps a younger option.
