Leeds United behind Celtic in race to sign Champions League hero - report

Celtic are reportedly better placed than Leeds United to prise Kasper Høgh from Champions League underdogs Bodø/Glimt.

The Norweigan club recently exited the competition at the last 16 stage, but captured hearts and minds with their performances.

Manchester City and Inter Milan were among the giants toppled by the minnows, who play at a modest 8,270-capacity stadium.

Høgh was instrumental in their surprise run from the qualifying stage to the last 16, registering six goals in 14 appearances.

However, according to Football Insider, Celtic are more likely to strike a deal for the 25-year-old this summer.

It has been suggested he wants to continue playing Champions League football, something Celtic could offer.

Leeds, on the other hand, are battling for Premier League survival and cannot yet dream of a European adventure.

Bodø/Glimt are thought to be keen on retaining the frontman, who is in line for a Denmark debut in next week.

Leeds United’s frontline

He is not the only frontman Leeds have been linked with and it would appear the top end of the pitch is a focus for the Whites.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha have proven to be shrewd free transfer additions, although Joel Piroe has struggled to make an impact in the top flight.

Intensifying competition for key players is something Leeds will need to do in order to push on and a bolstering of their attack does appear likely.

However, the business conducted by the West Yorkshire club will be dictated by their fate in the Premier League this term.

Relegation will most likely spark a firesale, from which Leeds will need to recover and mount a promotion push with a new-look squad.
