Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane is infuriating fans with his negativity about the team.
Roy Keane does not do ‘half-measures’, he never has. His hard-hitting opinions mean he is either ‘in’ or he is ‘out’, with not a lot of room for nuance.
When Keane was asked about Michael Carrick’s chances of becoming head coach after the 3-1 win over Aston Villa.
Keane offered a blunt response, stating: “No. I think there’s [sic] better options out there. I think the games where he’s come in – there’s been no jeopardy. Three weeks to prepare for the matches.”
Carrick has won seven, drawn one and lost one of the nine games he has played so far.
He has led United from sixth place into third, on course to qualify for the Champions League spots.
Roy Keane is allowed to have a different opinion – but fan responses to his comments show that his negativity is becoming tiresome.

United fan responses to Roy Keane
Roy Keane’s negative tone comes amid a sustained period of positivity for Manchester United under Michael Carrick.
And in a similar way with how fans have taken Paul Scholes to task over his recent comments, United supporters are unimpressed with Keane.
One fan wrote on TalkingPoints that he is sick of Keane, describing him as ‘bitter’ without anything positive to say about the club.
Another supporter took the same tone, praising Carrick for steadying the ship, also describing Keane as ‘bitter’.
Why is Keane ‘bitter’? Well it could have something to do with his acrimonious exit from Manchester United in 2005.
Or it could be connected to his own managerial career, which failed to get off the ground after a promising start.
One fan believes this is the case, arguing that Keane and Gary Neville could learn a thing or two from Michael Carrick, and are in no place to judge.
Another supporter expressed similar sentiments about Keane, describing his attitude as ‘toxic’.
More fans chimed in to express similar sentiments about the former Manchester United captain.
Michael Carrick only has to impress Ineos
Michael Carrick could win every game between now and the end of the season and it still won’t be good enough for Keane.
But he does not have to impress Keane. He has to impress Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Ineos decision-makers.
Former star Wayne Rooney believes that if Carrick can secure Champions League football, he will get the job full-time.
Do you agree? Is Michael Carrick the best managerial option?
Is Champions League qualification enough? Or do you need to see more?
