Transfer talk has dominated the headlines after reports emerged claiming the Reds are in a £69 million deal.
Reuters reported that Guimaraes comes recommended from his compatriot Casemiro, who is set to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.
It has also been claimed that Casemiro has spoken in glowing terms about Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Andre, with reporting that the 24 year-old is also admired by Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha.

Since making the move from Lyon in 2022, Guimaraes has managed 31 goals and an equal number of assists for Newcastle from 189 appearances across all competitions. This season alone, meanwhile, he has netted nine and set up a further five in 23 Premier League matches, despite being plagued by injury in part.

The Magpies were dumped out of the Champions League on Tuesday night following an 8-3 humbling on aggregate by Barcelona over the course of two legs, including a 7-2 humiliation at the Camp Nou this week.
As a result, the likelihood of Guimaraes leaving the club may have increased, considering he will hope to play European football once more next season. As things currently stand, Newcastle sit ninth in the Premier League standings, seven points from the top five and nine from the top four with eight games to go, as the likelihood of Eddie Howe overseeing any competition away from England diminishes by the day.
United, meanwhile, are far better placed to compete in the Champions League next season, currently third in the league standings on the home stretch.
