Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United poised for battle – Club prefer sale to England

Davide Frattesi

The 2025/26 campaign has been a difficult one for Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi. Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United can have renewed hope of landing the midfielder.

Late in the winter transfer window, the Italian was close to a move to the Midlands.

This was covered extensively bySport Witness, as Nottingham Forest failed because Inter couldn’t land Curtis Jones as a replacement.

After all of that, nothing really has changed for the midfielder. He has started just once since the end of January, only coming off the bench in the last three games in Serie A.

With the possibility of a call-up to the Italian national team looking difficult, Nottingham Forest can have another shot at the player. Newcastle United could also be back in the fray for him.

Inter stance can help English clubs

L’Interista report Davide Frattesi’s urgency in seeking a club where he can play more often. Nottingham Forest was seen as that chance and remain interested in a summer move.

Newcastle United are also back in the race, having tried to sign him in 2025. They did make a late approach for him – as covered bySport Witness, but the Nerazzurri rejected the offer.

Now, the two clubs could battle for the ex-Sassuolo player, who will also be open to staying in England.

AS Roma are keen on bringing him back but Inter’s stance can be key in the situation. They are not interesting in a swap deals or initial loans for Frattesi, which is likely to hand an advantage to Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest.

Only Roma’s Mile Svilar would appeal to them in a swap but he is too important for the Giallorossi right now.

Agent connection can help Forest and Magpies

As of now, Davide Frattesi is represented by Giuseppe Riso and he also happens to represent Sandro Tonali and Lorenzo Lucca.

This could make it easier for either Nottingham Forest or Newcastle United to land the player. It is established that Riso has a good working relationship with the two clubs.

Besides, Frattesi offers unique value to his teams. He isn’t a technical midfielder who dictates the tempo of games. The 26-year-old thrives on sniffing out opportunities in the box and loves to score – as evident from his impressive record for Italy.

He could be a very reliable option in attack for the two English clubs, with the player also desperate to leave Inter.
