Everton linked to 87-cap international David Moyes previously said is a 'real threat in the box'

The summer transfer window is fast-approaching and Everton are drawing up a list of targets.

A striker is on the agenda, with Fulham’s Raul Jimenez, Atletico Madrid’s Alexander Sorloth and AZ Alkmaar’s Troy Parrott linked to Everton.

A winger is also thought to be a priority for David Moyes, with Toffees scouts watching Millwall’s Femi Azeez.

Moyes could also look to bring in another midfielder, as Idrissa Gana Gueye comes to the end of his contract.

That said, Tomas Soucek is being linked to Everton again, so we decided to revisit some of Moyes’ previous comments on his former West Ham United player.

Moyes remains keen on signing Soucek ahead of the summer transfer window, with his West Ham contract due to expire next year.

The Scotsman brought Soucek to England in 2020, and has publicly hailed him on several occasions.

Speaking back in October 2021, Moyes explained that the 87-cap Czech Republic international is such a ‘threat in the box’.

“I think Tomas gets the praise, certainly internally,” the former Hammers boss stated.

Everton being linked to Soucek again… thoughts? 💭

West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek.

“We’re pushing him hard to get the goals that he got last year. We like his work ethic – we love his work ethic.

“He’s a real threat in the box as well, so we’re hoping he can get a few more goals to go along with his high running stats. Tomas will get his goals as the season goes on.”

Evidently, Moyes wants to add more goals to his midfield, as James Garner and Idrissa Gana Gueye aren’t really that type.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has certainly chipped in with a fair amount, but the Toffees will need more goal scorers in their squad if they qualify for Europe this term.

Soucek, who is a defensive midfielder, has netted a quite remarkable 46 goals in 275 appearances for the Hammers.
