Francesco Pio Esposito is arguably one of the best young players in Europe right now. It seems like Newcastle United have been keeping a close eye on his development.
Over the past few weeks,Sport Witness have covered Arsenal’s interest in the striker. The Italian press has been quick to disregard it with confidence, suggesting that Inter Milan will be keeping him for the long-term.
Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta wasasked about the Gunners some weeks ago. He was quick to play it down, clarifying the Nerazzurri’s intentions not to sell the player in the near future.
Despite that, the noise around the 20-year-old isn’t stopping. Newcastle United’s scouting mission for him has come to light.
Magpies’ scout spotted
Inter Milan were held to a controversial 1-1 draw by Atalanta on Saturday, with TuttoSport confident that a scout from Newcastle United was present at the venue.
The newspaper believe Arsenal were first team to scout Esposito multiple times. In the last 15-20 days, the Magpies have also started to observe the talent in person. They are looking to sign a young striker and have now set their sights on Esposito for the summer.
Inter have clear plans about his future, which is likely to lie in the iconic blue and black.
Initial talks over a renewal have been held with Esposito’s agent Mario Giufreddi. Recently, he clarified in an interview with Radio CRC that the striker is in love with the Serie A league leaders. Inter were left pleased by this and are working to secure the striker’s long-term future.
A new contract is in the works and that is likely to expire in 2031. Esposito is also likely to earn a big wage upgrade to €4m per season, with the player currently earning only €1m per season.
This is seen as a fitting reward for the Italian, with Inter wanting to be safe than sorry, when it comes to English interest.

The Italian press has had a stable stance about Esposito’s future and he should sign a renewal at Inter.If there is any chance of Newcastle United signing him, they might have to pay over €100m for the talent.
Besides, they already have Nick Woltemade in the side and he is similar to Esposito’s profile. There is no reason for Eddie Howe’s side to be signing another young forward, especially by paying a hefty amount.
That is why links with English clubs now appear to be attempts to simply raise Esposito’s profile. Considering how much he can earn, this has clearly worked.
That said, there’s an alternative way of looking at this. Newcastle United need more than one striker, and Inter Milan would surely bend at around €80m.
