The Leeds United midfielder was named in Germany's squad for the upcoming international break.
Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has told Julian Nagelsmann what he can expect from Anton Stach in the March international break after the Whites man received a Germany call-up.
Nagelsmann recently expressed an opinion on the Leeds midfielder that cast doubt on Stach's chances of making it into Germany's World Cup plans. The Germany boss told Kicker: "He’s doing well there, but he’s not exceptionally strong in the air and not a top ball-winner either. He’s also someone who prefers to have the game in front of him. In my view, his best position at Hoffenheim was the central role in a back three, from where he could drop into the No 6 position.”
But Stach has been named in the squad that will face Switzerland and Ghana in the upcoming international window. His club boss is delighted but feels it's warranted by how Stach has hit the ground running in his debut season in the Premier League.
"I think it's well deserved," said Farke. "He plays in the best league in the world with unbelievable consistency, his data is on a top level and he's adapted from more or less the first day. Many players who come to the UK need a bit of time to adapt to the intensity, not Anton. He fully deserves this call up. His all-round game is very important for us in terms of winning balls, against the ball, always puts a shift in, wins many duels, has delivered goals and assists, inspired our offensive game, proven he's versatile. He's a key player. If you play with this quality and consistency in the best league in the world you have a chance for a call up."
Stach has been called up at senior level previously but has had to bide his time to get involved again at international level, but Farke backs him to be a positive presence for Germany.
"He has the chance to impress and show what he's capable of," said Farke. "Julian will get a top class guy who will travel with confidence. I hope he can grab this chance with both hands, fingers crossed for him."
