Brenden Aaronson has revealed a documentary series played a part in his move to Leeds United.
The attacking midfielder emerged on the Leeds radar during the reign of Marcelo Bielsa, but it was not until the arrival of Jesse Marsch that a deal was done.

The documentary series followed Leeds across the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons, chronicling their efforts to seal promotion to the Premier League.
How a documentary influenced Leeds United move
He said: “It’s funny because I watched the series on Amazon. I thought it was fantastic, it was one of the best ones that I watched, and I’m not saying that to say that.
“I really liked it, I liked how I didn’t know a tonne about Leeds at that time, because, you know, when I grew up it wasn’t at the Championship level or the Premier League, which I was watching all the time.
“But watching that, it taught me how big of a club it was, and I just thought it was funny [that] about six months to eight months later, in January, when I was at Salzburg, they wanted to bring me in. Then, from that point on, I wanted to go so bad. I was really interested and I really loved the club.
“I really thought it was a gigantic club and I wanted to help them, bring them back to the highest level.”

Brenden Aaronson’s time at Leeds United
Aaronson initially struggled to make an impact in the Premier League and was unable to save Leeds from relegation in his maiden campaign.
He then drew the ire of supporters by heading on loan to Union Berlin in the aftermath of relegation. The playmaker faced the music in the summer of 2024, returning to help Leeds clinch the Championship title just under a year later.
The attacking midfielder’s appearance tally for the club now stands at 119.
