Manchester United are keen on luring the player to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window

Newcastle United want over £100million for Sandro Tonali this summer amid ‘clear interest’ from Manchester United, according to i News. The Red Devils will need to fork out big cash to land the player in the next transfer window. His contract in the North East expires in 2028.

Michael Carrick remains in interim charge at Old Trafford. He has made a positive impression since taking over from Ruben Amorim. The North West outfit take on AFC Bournemouth on Friday night.

United need to bolster their midfield department ahead of next season. Casemiro’s impending exit will leave a void. Tonali would be ideal but he has a hefty price tag.

The 25-year-old joined Newcastle back in 2023 and he has since become a key player. They could now face a serious battle to keep hold of him amid attention from elsewhere. He has made 104 appearances in all competitions for the Magpies, 47 of which have come in this campaign, and he has chipped in with 10 goals.

Tonali, who is an Italy international with 30 caps to his name, started out at Brescia before AC Milan lured him to the San Siro. He initially moved to the Serie A club on loan before his transfer was later made permanent. The Lodi-born man then went on to play 130 matches and found the net on seven occasions.

After signing Tonali, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe said at the time: "He is an exceptional talent and has the mentality, physicality and technical attributes to be a great fit for us.

"At 23, Sandro already has important experience as a key player in one of Europe's top leagues and in the Champions League, as well as playing for his country. But he also has the opportunity and potential to grow and evolve with us, and I'm excited to add him to our squad as we approach the exciting season ahead."
