All eyes remain fixed on Ronald Koeman as he prepares to announce his Netherlands squad in the next 48 hours, with West Ham fans nervously waiting to see if Crysencio Summerville makes the cut.
Summerville, of course, was injured during the Hammers’ FA Cup win against Brentford and missed the heroic 1-1 draw with Manchester City. However, many are expecting him to return for Sunday’s clash against Aston Villa, and we should learn more when Nuno Espírito Santo speaks to journalists in his pre-match press conference tomorrow.
El Hadj Malick Diouf, Kieffer LaMadrid and Tomáš Souček have already received their call-ups, but it is the fitness of Summerville which will have most of us on tenterhooks. Let’s face it, the winger is absolutely crucial to West Ham’s hopes of staying in the Premier League this season.
International Call Could Spell Trouble for West Ham
It would be sod’s law if Summerville were to return against Villa, only to be called up for international duty while still carrying a knock. That’s the real fear.
The likes of Memphis Depay, Donyell Malen and Cody Gakpo are all expected to be included, but until Koeman confirms the full squad, West Ham supporters will be left sweating.

Don’t get me wrong, I wish Summerville all the best and hope he earns that coveted Netherlands call-up. But the selfish West Ham fan in me can’t help but feel that this international break might be coming at exactly the wrong time.
